Clergy sexual abuse allegations in Wisconsin

TRANSCRIPT: Survivors of abuse within the Catholic Church dropped off a new list to the Milwaukee County District Attorney of alleged offenders within the church. The group, called Nate’s Mission, says whistleblowers provided a list of 218 current and former members of the church who allegedly sexually abused children over the past few decades. Attorney General Josh Kaul announced last spring that he was opening a new investigation into institutional abuse, but this list, according to Nate’s Mission, has been in the hands of the church for years. “They’re just sitting on these other names and some of them are still in ministry. Some of them are still teaching at schools. Some of them may still be working with the church, with children in the church, in a volunteer capacity, and it’s alarming.” [Quote by Nate’s Mission Deputy Director Sarah Pearson] Now the Archdiocese of Milwaukee is providing this statement in response: “No information about additional substantiated allegations has been received from the Attorney General, the District Attorney, or any other source.”
