About Nate
Nate Lindstrom was born and raised in Green Bay Wisconsin in a devout Catholic family. As a teenager, he was sexually assaulted by Norbertine priests while attending Notre Dame Academy in De Pere, Wisconsin. Because there were no available avenues to justice through the court system due to Wisconsin’s statute of limitations, Nate was forced to seek help from the Norbertines, the organization whose priests and administrators groomed him, abused him, and intimidated him into silence.
On March 9th, 2020, Nate took his life after St. Norbert Abbey abruptly discontinued payments intended to support his mental health treatment. Nate left behind a beautiful and loving family, including his wife and three young children. Nate was a passionate advocate for his fellow clergy sexual abuse survivors. His death has shocked and galvanized the Green Bay community, including the alumni of the high school where he was abused, to demand transparency and accountability from the church and a long-overdue statewide investigation and inquiry into clergy abuse and cover up.
Nate's mission in life was to ensure that what happened to him would never be allowed to happen to another child or survivor of clergy sexual abuse. The Mission was created to honor his life through its advocacy for his vision of a post-abuse church that protects the fundamental human rights of children.
