Nate's Mission says it's given 217 names to Wisconsin's attorney general

MILWAUKEE —

Longtime victim advocates say they've uncovered more than 200 names of clergy members accused of sexual abuse who, they say, have never been investigated.

Advocates with Nate's Mission, a Wisconsin-based advocacy organization for clergy abuse survivors, say they handed over envelopes to the Wisconsin attorney general with the names of 217 people that they say weren't included on the public list on the church's website.

The group took the names to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office on Thursday.

In a statement, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee said since July 2004, it's published the names of clergy with substantiated claims of abuse of minors and that no information about additional substantiated allegations have been received.

Attorney General Josh Kaul launched an investigation into clergy abuse in April 2021. In a statement, he said he has received the documents. He encourages anyone with information about clergy and faith leader abuse to report it.
